Do they have to be used? Dad is on his way to get his CCOs for quads so preemies. They look mighty long for such tiny babies. Should I take them off?

They are very squishy but for teeny tinies I'd definitely provide guidance about fit/when they can be used. The head inserts (not body) may need to be removed as well- make sure he knows which part is mandatory, which part is optional.

I know other people can make them work for newbies, but I couldn't, so I took them off when DD was a newborn.

Thanks. I found it finally. Took off the strap covers for now, I cannot imagine them fitting with a 4lb. preemie. He knows about the headrest and I told them possibly around 6 months they would be ready to remove the other part of the insert (maybe longer, depending on how they grow).
Mom came too so she got to hear and see all but the install (it was snowing and she was freezing so she sat in my warm house while we installed). Pics of the seats coming and Dad promised pics when they bring babies home (with permission to post :)
