Putting towel under seat base acceptable?

Hi,
Just got a Britax marathon and am installing it. I have in the past used a towel underneath as kind of a seat protector is this ok? If not why not?

Also, when installing RF is it always ok to tether to front seat rail? I am installing in a 07 Camry and a 05 Honda civic 4dr.

I also have a Triumph installed RF, but I don't think I can use the tether right? Thanks for your help.

a really really thin towel is approved I beleive. By seat rail do you mean the part that is bolted down? And it doesn't move? If so then yes. And nope, the Triumph doesn't allow for rearfacing tethering.

Yes, a thin, unfolded towel or blanket is fine if you must have something to protect your seats. Nothing thicker or folded is recommended because it could interfere with installation or slip in a crash. Aftermarket seat protectors are too thick and should not be used. Also, there are no standards to which they are manufactured and they have not been crash tested (no matter what the manufacturer claims) and there is no knowing how they will perform.

You can tether a Britax rfing to any point toward the front of the vehicle that is nonmoving and anchored to the vehicle frame. Seat legs work well. Seatbelt buckle stalk anchors and seat rails are fine as long as the d-ring doesn't interfere with using the front seat.

You are correct. The Evenflo Triumph Advance cannot be tethered rf. At this time, only Britax convertibles and Sunshine Kids Radians can be tethered rf.

Thanks for your posts. I have the towels folded now so I will have to correct that. The tether is connected properly to the seat leg below the rail(non moving).
