Playing monkey in the middle with my daughter?

When two adults play monkey in the middle with a little kid, (in my case, our 4 year old daughter ). how come every adult that I see always plays it on there knees and lower while the kid gets to stand? Why can’t me and my wife just stay standing up along with our daughter? ,Would it matter one way VS another?

I see adults doing this when they were the monkey, and also when they are a thrower with the kid in the middle. Why is this?

What does height have to do with it? Isn’t that the point? for the monkey in the middle to have to actually jump up and try to get the ball? and for the thrower(whether that be the kid or the adult) try and throw it out of the monkeys reach (again, kid or adult). Isn’t that how the game is played? Please explain?
