oldest ffing harnessed child vs oldest child

I always worry about "with the seat pushed all the way back." I get that we don't want an airbag to explode onto a little kid, but with advanced airbags that's (supposedly) not as huge an issue. I do worry about the kid behind the kid in the front seat who now has the front seat pushed into his/her legs and the seatback that much closer to his/her head.

In a car with first-gen airbags, I might be more concerned about the potential for harm, but with newer cars, I have to wonder if "reasonably far back" is sufficient.

This post was relevant today...the lady next to me put 3 small kids in a car and had 2 carseats. She was driving a friend, and that child went without.

I actually peeked up front because I thought maybe there was a booster or something, not that any were booster age...but no.

All 3 in back and one wedged between 2 seats with the adult seatbelt.

This...as two 15-passenger vans pulled away with all preschoolers in adult seatbelts.

Is it don't use a carseat day?
