Not sure I made the right choice on seat

I just switched my DS to a Britax Pavillion. I FINALLY achieved an install that I am happy-ish with, I will try to get a photo later...
However, I am not sure I made the right choice with the seat.... DS SCREAMS every time I put him in there. I don't know if it's becuase it's new & unfamiliar, but he never cried getting into his Chaperone, even when I had to dig straps from under him. I tried him in the seat in the house before it went in the car (he cried then too :( )
I also don't know if I love that click safe feature, becuase it totally clicked and I still had a great deal of slack in the harness that I was not thrilled with, so I kept adjusting of course, but wondered if parents just hear the click, assume it's safe and off they go even with a serious amount of adjusting left to do
I don't know now if I can return it either, since it's been installed in my car & I've "used" it for 3 days  Sigh.
Maybe I am just sad about letting go of the Chaperone :(

Maybe he just needs a little time to get used to it. Maybe it's b/c it's more upright than the Chaperone and he likes laying back a bit more. Maybe there's something under the cover behind the seat. (I throw this out there b/c years ago, my niece cried and cried in her new highchair..till I discovered that an extra set of straps or something was stuck behind the pad and digging into her back! It could happen w/a carseat, too, even if it's just that the padding got bunched up a little behind him). Some kiddos are super sensitive to these things. My oldest has was very premature and has autism.and along w/that sensory integration disorder (or SPD...same difference). Little changes like that bothered him a lot.

Did you put it in a different spot in the car?

And fwiw, it may just be coincidence. At some point, most babies realize that being strapped into a seat isn't really "fun" and they fuss about it. A lot of times, this happens around one year of age, and parents use it as an excuse to turn their babies forward facing, stating "He just doesn't like rearfacing..." It's really just that they are growing up and have learned cause and effect better!

Give it some time and see how he does. It's a good carseat. I've heard that the "clicksafe" feature doesn't give a great read on if the harness is correct or not, so go w/what you know is right.
