New Graco buckles - not worth the risk?

Well I thought I had it narrowed down to a Nauti or MR for my mom's car, but now I am worried about everything I have read about the new buckles being problematic. I don't want to start over again if a Graco seat fails. Is it worth the risk or should I just go with another brand?

I thought I had it narrowed down to size4me or nautilus for my moms car and then I had her try them and she can't deal with the buckles. She is 57 and doesn't have arthritis, but her nails are kind of long. It's a definite no-go for us. We're going to look at the defender, but if that doesn't work she's willing to spend the extra money for fr85 or another radian because of how bad the graco buckles are so I guess it's that bad to her. I'd probably have her try them out and see what she thinks before you make any purchase. The sk has the same buckle too if that is more readily available in store for you.

The Evenflo secure kid could be a cheaper option too if the Defender doesn't work.

I could not deal with the hard buckle :(

Look at the Harmony Defender, it's really nice and the buckles/chest clip are much nicer than the graco ones!

I skipped them. Because people are not used to them, I always worried that in an emergency someone might not be able to get them out quickly.

We've got the new style buckle on DD's Nauti and have never had a problem with it :shrug-shoulders: In fact DD (who is 4) can buckle and unbuckle it very easily.

I've owned/used about 4 Graco seat with the new buckle and I'll say that it really depends on the buckle. Also if your using your non-dominant hand it will seem impossible. I hated the buckle on my MR but didn't mind it on the S4M. It takes some getting used to but I dunno that I'd skip the seat based on the buckle. Before when I had just tried the MR I swore I would never buy another Graco bc of the buckle. Then the S4M came out and I had to have it. Lol
