New Car/ New Infant Seat

DH and I are car shopping and also TTC. We're probably going to end up getting another Camry, but I"m doing the car seat shuffle first to make sure we can live with having 4 people in the car :)

Which infant carrier is the absolute smallest, with the handle down, from front to back. I'd like to go try it on in the Camry before we purchase the car.

I have a Britax Diplomat that I'll move baby into once he has head control and a Radian XT w/ AA that I'll move him into around 1-2, so I'm just looking for a small bucket to use for that first little bit.

I've read here and on the car seat lady's site that the Cybex Aton is very shallow, takes up less room than the Gracos and Chiccos fron to back.

The Cybex Aton's website says the handle has to stay up. I'd really prefer putting the handle down.

Can I ask why? Having the handle up provides some rebound control, plus it's less to worry about. (People often forget to change the handle position.)

Good points. I thought I'd read that the handle up created a potential safety issue if it snapped in a crash and fell into baby's face.

Only for the manufacturers that prohibit the handle being up. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can be specific, but wasn't that Evenflo that had the handle snapping issue?

I'm hoping that Canada's requirements for rebound control lead to that being eliminated in US buckets.

Well then I know what seat I'll be getting :D It's also super compatible with the UppaBaby Vista I'm dreaming about!
