Ok, I would love some advice from on what would be the best situation for me right now. I am trying to get my 2 FR80 side by side in the second row of my '05 Expedition. For the life of me I can not get it to work. Those bulky side cup holders are bumping and I can't get them tight together to where I can still flip the outboard seat without catching it every.time! :hitselfonhead: I haven't tried doing a seatbelt install on them yet, just LATCH, but if I can't get them to work it would mean putting DS5 who is 3yrs FF on the outboard seat. I would love to keep my youngest in the middle, but when I think about it I could always put DS1 who 10yr and in adult seatbelt in the middle of the seats. Would this be a safer option for my 10yr old and offer him a little more protection? I am not crazy about the short headrest on the middle seat and I don't think the seatbelt is as good of fit for him in this position as opposed to outboard, but it is acceptable.

I guess what I am asking if you have made it this far in my ramble is would it be best to just put DS5 outboard and offer DS1 a little more protection in the center or should I try to wrestle with these seats and keep DS5 in the center to offer him more protection??

Thanks if you made it through my posts. My thoughts are exactly clear right now with so much going on in my head.:eek:

I'm not sure I followed. Are the choices:
10yo, seatbelt only, outboard
3yo, Frontier, center

vs

10yo, seatbelt only, center
3yo, Frontier, outboard

?

The rule of least protected child in most protected position says your 10yo goes in the middle. But you said the belt fit is less ideal there, and there is the question of head support. Head support to tops of ears is a minimum, best practice has head support to the top of the head.

So I guess I don't really have an answer for you, since I can't see the difference in belt fit and there is the head support question.

Thanks Melissa... I will try to take some pics when he gets home from school of the belt fit in both places, but until then I guess I will just keep playing with these seats. :)
