My husband ripped the headrest foam. HELP!

My daughter must have spilled some milk recently in her seat because it smells bad. We got home from our trip last night and my husband starts taking the cover off. I apparently yelled at him stop because we hadn't consulted the directions. He claimed that he thought since he knew how to take our daughters seat cover off surely he could do this. Um. Fine. So he continues and I go to consult the manual. We gets everything off and for whatever reason takes the foam off the headrests which was not necessary for what we had to clean.

Now they are both ripped. :( I didn't notice it last night and when my daughter woke up she brought them to my room this morning. (she's 2) I'm furious mostly because my husband couldn't wait 5 minutes to look at the manual and do things right because he "knew" how to do it. Sorry, I guess I'm venting a bit too!!

My question is what do I do now? Do I call and try to order new foam for the headrests? Or is it fine the way it is? I feel like if they are ripped I'm sacrificing my daughter's safety in the event of an accident, and yet I can't imagine how that rip in the head rest would actually cause a problem either.

It's a Recaro Proride.

Thank you for your help!

When the same thing happened to me I use ducktape to make a quick fix and call britax (in my case) and they send me a replacement at no charge

Call Recaro and ask (or make your hubby do it!), but usually taping it back in place is an acceptable solution. The foam just needs to BE there to do its job.
