Motion sickness

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this...

Last week we went on vacation, 2 flights on the way there, a rental car and 2 flights on the way home. I bought a Scenera to travel with so we didn't have to lug a Marathon through the airports. DS is 13 months, 23ish pounds and is rear facing with plenty of room in the Scenera (and Marathons). DS has always been great in the car/Marathon, no fussing and sleeps just fine even on the 2 hour, no freeway (all country roads) drive to MIL's and was fine when we flew at 4/5 months.

On our first flight DS was RF and asleep before take off. He woke up, had a snack and started getting fussy on decent. Next thing I know he was puking everywhere! The next flight I was ready with a barf bag, thankfully because he did it again.

I cleaned up the seat as best I could, installed it in the rental car (RF) and went to the hotel. The next day we planned to drive a couple of hours to the next destination, taking breaks to sight see along the way. Again, he was fine the first leg of the trip. DH sat in the back with him on the last leg to keep him entertained and DS got sick again. The poor little guy was absolutely miserable.

I ended up getting him the 'SeaBands' (the pressure point arm bands for motion sickness) and turning the seat forward facing at the urging of DH and my mom. (I hated having him FF !) He didn't get sick the rest of the week thankfully. And I had him RF on the plane because the buckle was in his back FF and he was miserable from that.

We are back at home now, he is back to RF in his Marathons and is fine. Do you think it was the seat? Rearfacing? Anyone had a similar experience???

Could he have just had an upset stomach? I know the few times I've had motion sickness I already felt sick to my stomach BEFORE I got into the vehicle. The motion is just icing on the cake.

He seemed fine except in the car and on decent. He was eating and playing normally. Hopefully that was the case since he has been fine since. Thanks for your reply.
