Locking belts and boosters

I moved Q into the CCO last Friday and played a little musical carseats to see if we could get a configuration that would allow kids to get to the third row without having to climb over the middle seat in the second row. I was able to fit the Monterey in the middle seat next to the CCO so that I could pop up the outboard seat to allow easier access to the back. The seating position the Monterey is in has a seatbelt that locks when it's pulled all the way out, and while dd hasn't had too much trouble getting herself buckled in, she does have to lean over the seat quite a ways to reach the buckle stalk, which has resulted in the seatbelt pulling all the way out and locking. It doesn't always happen, but has been a pretty big pain to fix when it does. Is there an easy way to teach kids how to pull out enough of the belt to allow for the slack they need without pulling it all the way out? I can always move her back to the outboard seat if I need to....just trying to weigh whether the convenience of the access is a higher priority than the inconvenience of the seatbelt issue. I'd love to keep her next to the baby as well....it's been so nice to have a little helper right there to pop in a binky or wipe up spit-up if need be!
