Keyfit 30 question

We have a keyfit 30 and are on our second child in it in four years. It’s worked great, and we have all the stroller accessories for it. Recently, while unfastening my 18 month-old, the harness tightening/locking strap pulled through! I couldn’t fish it out, so I pulled it all the way out and figured I would thread it back in - can’t be done! It seems as though the sewn loop at the end of the strap ripped the stitching, allowing it past the locking mechanism.

has anyone ever seen this? I’m not the strongest guy in the world, and I wasn’t in a fit of pique! The seat has never had a problem or been involved in an accident. I tried to thread a long jigsaw blade through, figuring I’d use that to snake the strap back in, but I can’t even pass that through!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Google yielded nothing and Chicco is closed until Monday morning.

many thanks in advance—

Hi Tom!

Unfortunately, you're right- I'm pretty sure you can't replace that part. It most likely was damaged by repeated wear. I haven't seen that on many seats- but sometimes things like this happen when fibers loosen after a child is repeatedly car sick or something like that. You can give Chicco a call and see if they can help you out, but likely you're best off moving on to a convertible seat at this point!
