Which seats are compatible with certain makes and models of cars? A mom told me she saw such a thing about 4 years ago and is looking for it now. I don't know of anything.

There used to be a website/database where you could put in your vehicle & carseat info and comment on how well it fit. Unfortunately it's been gone for a couple of years at least now. It was a great compilation of info if you were looking at new seats or vehicles.

Yep, alas the carseatdata.org database website hasn't been with us for several years. If I remember correctly, it was sold by the original owner to an online carseat retailer, elitecarseats. When the online retailer later went out of business, the compatibility database also went away sadly at that time.

Unfortunately, they didn't have a whole lot of business savvy in the end. Even with CarseatData, they had a willing buyer before they went out of business. They were also not very savvy as negotiators, asking only for unrealistic stuff (like lifetime free advertising) and never actually trying to work out a reasonable deal. They could have received money and advertising and the knowledge that the compatibility database and website (that was given to them for free) would continue on as a resource for parents. Instead, they got nothing at all for it, the data is gone and the domain name serves only as a redirect to their amazon storefront. Yeah, I still have a sour grape left;-) The founder, a former member here, put a lot of effort into it and trusted them enough to give it to them for no charge, asking only that they keep it going.
