Question Irritated by safety warning on carseat

My daughter is 2 and has recently started complaining about the sewn-on safety label on the carseat's seatback. She says it itches or bothers her, or variations on that theme. Sometimes it makes her very reluctant to get into the carseat.

We're hoping that this blows over in a few days and she forgets about it. Or it may become a non-issue when the cooler weather arrives and she's wearing a sweater instead of just a shirt.

But if not -- are there safe things that we can do to fix this?

The first time it happened, just to keep the peace we put a small, thin burp-cloth over the label before buckling her in. But the more we think about it, it's probably not a good idea to put anything between her and the carseat.

I'm also not keen on removing the label -- not that I actually read it each time, but it just sounds like a bad idea and I'm not sure how I'd go about it. Seam-ripper? I can't tell if it's only sewn onto the fabric or what.

By the way, this is rear-facing in a Radian XTSL.

Thanks in advance.

Have you washed the cover according to Diono's instructions yet? I might give that a shot, if you haven't already, just to see if it softens anything up.

I would put a cloth over it. I wouldn't think something as thin as a t shirt would do any harm. If it is seen on, trying to remove it might damage the cover.

It could be removed without damage.... Seam ripper. I had one come off a Britax seat once. I have re-sewn Britax tags... but not warning labels. But I agree that covering it is probably not a big deal either - since is passes testing with the infant pad over it.

Thanks, everyone. It sounds like putting something thin over the label, if my daughter keeps insisting, isn't too big of an issue.

I just realized my topic heading wasn't very clear -- it comes across like maybe I'm "irritated" with the way the label is written or something, rather than it literally irritating my daughter's skin.

The carseat is a few years old and the cover has been washed at least once, so I am not sure whether it is likely to get any softer. But that also may be worth a shot.

I got what you meant. :)

I am irritated by how they never put these warning labels in the picture of a product but then you get the product and BAM big ugly warning label. I remember the fisher price kick and play bouncer I got for my first son, so cute on the box, huge warning label once you opened it. :p
