Insert for Diono Radian 3R

Our new FS is 13mo, but small (18lbs) and even though I buckle him in well before we leave, he always ends up slouched down and leaned to one side or the other. The Diono inserts say they’re for up to 15lbs, so I’m not sure if it’s ok to use it in this situation? (I’d need to order one.) Years ago they used to tell us to use rolled up towels, but I’m not sure that’s ok now and he’s probably just grab them and unroll them. Any other ideas?

I’ve struggled to find a seat that will work in the center seat of my ‘16 Explorer and still allow kids to buckle in the outboard seats. So far this is the only one that is even semi-working so a different seat really isn’t an option … unless there’s something I haven’t tried yet. (I tried 5 at Walmart last week 😳😂).

Diono would probably allow its use, but you should go ahead and call them if you need to know if it's ok.

Have you tried the Graco SlimFit3 LX? That's slimmer than the Diono.
Clek convertibles are expensive but may be another option; the Infant Thingy would be appropriate to improve fit if you try them.

I will order a slimfit3 and see if it will work and if not, I’ll grab one of the Diono inserts.

Thanks for replying.

Make sure it's the SlimFit3 LX/True3Fit LX. They still also sell several variations of the regular SlimFit that aren't actually all that slim. It gets confusing!
