It has somehow taken me this long to have discovered how to post image codes to have a photo display in a post without it being an attachment.
However I've got pics on Flickr and can't seem to get the link to display. Is this a known incompatibility, or can someone tell me how to do it correctly?
It has to do with Flickr. You can't just link to the image, because they want it to say that it's hosted on Flickr.com.
Here's info from their FAQ:
Where is the HTML code and photo file link?
The HTML code to embed a photo in a web page that you used to find on the All Sizes page is now only in the Share menu on the photo, to the left of the More menu. We now also include BBCode! (standard message board code)
There are a few cases where the code may not be available: 1) If the photo is restricted. 2) If that person has turned off "Share this" or access to original files.
The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.
Example of what happens when you enter the BB code:
A rainbow as we left downtown by
andreandanne, on Flickr
If you put the link that Flickr gives you in brackets, you get a blank, no image.
Example (no image will appear):
[IMG]http://www.flickr.com/photos/familyof3incali/4527011223/
Now, you CAN shorten the BB code so that it only includes the image and not the title, your username, etc. but that would violate their terms of service.
