but would you put a 75# 9yo in the front seat (she's begging) to go see Christmas lights? The light display is in a park. All cars drive the same route -- there are no cross-streets or intersections or anything like that. We rarely exceed 15mph.

She would, of course, be in the back on the way to and from the lights.

I'm pretty sure my standard for car safety isn't as high as yours... but I let my 75lb 8yo sit in the front of my van on the highway once because the dog was farting in the back and he was losing his mind :duck:. Personally speaking, with the risk of airbag deployment being about the same as the risk of a tree falling and crushing the whole car... I would let my kid sit up front.
