HIC numbers

I have a Foonf that gets mid 400's in a frontal crash for a FF 3 yr old. Clek published the numbers and they were even better FF than RF so I thought what a great seat for all phases and assumed that was a great HIC number. Just recently Baby Gear Lab recently did the same test and it came out with roughly the same number (it was done at same facility). So that should be great - independent testing gets same result, but then I noticed it was the 2nd "worst" score and most of the other carseats were in the 200 HIC range. All the scores are under the 1000 threshold, but is the difference between 250 and 450 going to make a difference? Does that mean the REACT system is not as effective as I believed or is that more for reducing neck forces? I also know rigid latch is very helpful in side impacts (and also that the Foonf gets the 200 HIC number with a 6 yr old dummy) so I am just talking about the frontal collision with the FF 3 yr old.

The numbers are numbers. We don't necessarily know how those translate into real-world scenerios. What if low head excursions numbers actually lead to greater neck strain? Or vice-versa? What if higher numbers in one area translate into lower numbers in another? Or in a different type of crash? Or in a different vehicle?

The seat passes (and by a good margin). That's what matters.

I thought about that as well. Maybe by allowing some head excursion and forward motion in a controlled way lowers the strain on the neck.
