Question Headwings & radian ?

Active member
Do headwings really offer much added side impact protection? I've read differing opinions. Also, on the Radian RXT, will the headwings get in the way with later use as a booster?

We currently have 2 XTSLs but for RF I sometimes wish I'd gone with a model without headwings so DS could look out the window more easily. Am I cheating him out of protection if I get a new seat without wings?

There are no standard for side impact protect, and no way to know if the wings do absolutely anything.

The wings make the seatbelt catch when in booster mode, and they mean you cannot use the seat higher than the top slots (the Radian allows this in harnessed mode), so the booster is outgrown as soon as the harness is outgrown.

I can't speak to the safety, but I ordered one without headwing because they seemed annoying
