Harness height in MR vs. Momentum?

We have a my ride for DD and I'm considering a momentum for a second seat. These are really my only two choices before we go to a SN seat, since she slumps badly in everything else. We could do a recaro, but it's out of my budget right now.

I think both have 16.5" top slots, but the momentum just SEEMS like it has more room to grow. I've only tried the momentum in the store though, not installed in a car. Has anyone else found that it's one of those "magical" seats that seems to give kids more room, or at least more room than the MR? I remember the triumph advance being like that. DS always had more room in that than any other seat, except the radian, which is like, super magical or something. :p I could get a second MR for cheaper, but if the momentum will last longer, even if only by 6 months or so, I'm going with that.

I'm my experience with the myride, because is how much it reclines ff, my son would have outgrown it ff when his torso reached 16 inches. The momentum top slots are 17 inches and I think its pretty true to that

Well, to be fair, the momentum will be installed fairly reclined too. In the second recline position, which I know most people never use, since there's no real need for most kids. I keep hearing 16.5" for the momentum...am I wrong? I thought it was slightly shorter than the advance.

I can't believe I'm dealing with this with my PETITE 3 1/2 year old. Her torso is even longer than her brother's was I think.

Are you planning to use it FF or RF? It wasn't clear.

I have a momentum for my 2.5 yr old and chose it over the myride because he had a lot more room over his head and I was buying it to keep him RFing right after he turned 2. He still has loads of room RFing, although he will probably have to turn in the next few months because of weight (I tried him in the nauti and he was on the second from bottom harness slot).

A couple of weeks ago I installed it FF, just for fun and tried my older little boys in it. My almost 7 yr old had just barely outgrown it FF and he fits in a Nauti on the highest harness setting with a little room to grow. My 5 yr old still fit in it fine and he fits a Nauti or Maestro right at the second to top harness setting(if he grows he'll have to move up).

HTH.;)

FF'ing, sorry. I'm pretty sure anyway. If rf'ing worked out for us I'd do it, but because of her floppy tone and issues getting her in and out of the car, it might not work. If she was rf'ing obviously she'd be in the full recline position. FF'ing she's be in the second recline position. She's probably 1" from the top slot of the MR, which is why this is even a concern.

I don't remember how my youngest fit in the MR in regard to harness height, when I looked at it I was just looking at shell height for RFing. If your are familiar with the harness heights on the nauti my references to my older little boys FF might be helpful. :)

Even if they measure the same, because the MR is *so* reclined FFing it's going to lose height. The Momentum, if it's like the EFTA, is not terribly reclined even in the second recline position once installed. So even if they both "measure" 16.5 the Momentum will last longer in practice.
