My old van (447,000 miles) had damage to the leather seat backs from kids propping up their feet. Their feet fall asleep in their forward facing seats. Ages 11,6, 5 and have outgrown radian’s rear facing by height. I got a new van yesterday and would like to prevent the same damage. Any ideas for providing them a safe and effective foot rest?

We use an appropriately-sized cardboard box that is stuffed with paper and taped shut. I happened to have a foam cooler that was shipped in a box, so I stuffed the cooler to reduce noise, and it gives the box more rigidity. The box is different heights depending on what side it's on, which has worked great as our LO has grown!
The main thing is that you want something that isn't going to become a dangerous projectile in event of a crash. You might try something inflatable that can be stuffed between the seats, or maybe cut pool noodles into chunks and tape or tie them together. Let us know what you figure out!

Amazon sells some inflatable footrests I've had good results with.
