Evenflo or babytrend infant seats?

Are they still not recommended? I’m pregnant with #6 but I swear I feel like a first time mom again! My kids are 19, 18, 16, 14, and 13! I’m sure a lot has changed. Someone offered to buy us a car seat but isn’t wanting to spend as much as the one we had picked out (Chicco keyfit) and is suggesting evenflo and baby trend seats. I don’t want to seem ungrateful or start drama but I don’t want a car seat I’ll hate or anything.

There are some challenges. The base level BT is still too high for about half of newborns; other models come with an insert that helps. It's not the easiest to install.

Evenflo still makes some more difficult seats, but the SafeMax and LiteMax aren't horrible- they fit newborns well. They allow the handle forward in an anti rebound position which saves space if you don't have the ability to use the center seat (they still have a 1.5" clearance requirement but these are more compact than past models.)

Other good budget options to consider are the Graco ClickConnect seats or the Costco Lite N Comfy (choose one with a front adjuster.)

You can also, of course, skip the rear facing only seat and use a convertible from birth, which can be much more economical.
