We trained our lab. DH did most of the time training. Plus he's home all summer with the kids since he is a teacher. Our lab mellowed out after her first birthday. That's when we started leaving her out of the crate. She chewed a few shoes but hasn't done that in a long time. She loves the nylabones so we keep her stocked with those in her toy bin. I think we were lucky. Other's in her litter were more hyperactive. Her bad knees might have contributed to her being calm. She definately has more giddy up since the second knee was done. We exercise her alot. We walk every night and take her to my parents on weekends to swim in the pond.
