effect your decision weather to rf or ff a 3 yr old? Say for instance I drive a e350 van, very high up and heavy. VS say a Ford focus?

Thanks Kelley

Not for me. I'm not a tech so this is my novice view. The benefits of rf primarily have to do with forces in a crash which won't vary much. It does make me choose different carseats for more side impact protection if the vehicle doesn't have much SIP.

For rf vs ff no. Rf is always safer no matter what vehicle.

Not for me. I simply try to RF to 4.

But technically we allow them to use the FF Prosport at 3 in the car. The van has RF radians. For me at 5''8" it's no big deal. But if it were dad's van full-time he'd be a bit squished at 6'4", though it's doable.

It's just that the Civic is dad's car for the work week. It needs to have both front seats available for tall adults.

Only if it's a 2 door car that can't accommodate a RF seat, and only for the occasional trip.

:yeahthatlove: except for us it's a 3 door ext. cab truck that isn't the greatest for rf seats. I let ds ff in there at 3.5 instead of simply not allowing him to ride in it at all.

Yes, to a certain extent. I FF'd my almost-4yo for the trip to Disneyland in the 15-p van so she could watch the movies. But when we got home I still put her RF in our regular vehicles. The greater mass of the full-size van does mean less force transferred to the child in a collision with a movable object. Not gonna make a difference if you hit a concrete wall. It's enough to make me more comfortable if we're talking about a child who's within months of FF full-time anyways. Not enough to make a difference when we're talking about, say, a 2yo.
