Question Does a 2001 Toyota Avalon have the LATCH system?

I am trying to install my daughters new Britax roundabout in my 2001 Avalon and I can not figure out if it has the latch system. I would just use the seatbelt, but I can not get it to stay locked and the seat moves too much. I have looked in the owners manual and I can not figure this out. Please help!

You don't need the belt to stay locked (to do so, pull it all the way out slowly and gently, then it'll lock). You have built in lockoffs on that seat that take the place of locking the belt. Or you can lock the belt and skip the lockoffs, if you're using a lap and shoulder belt.

Sorry, I haven't got a LATCH manual handy to say yes or no. It would say you had it in your manual if you did, though. Something like, "You have lower anchor connectors for the outer rear seats in your 2001 Toyota Avalon." Then it would show pictures of where they are, and give a brief run down of how to install a seat there.

They are on your rear filler panel. They may have plastic covers that pop off, as I recall. You can raise the head restraint and thread the tether through, or remove and then replace once the tether is attached.

Of note, while your tether anchors meet FMVSS 225, you are advised to check with your Toyota dealer about a Special Service Campaign that may apply to them.
