Question Disinfect straps?

My son has a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP. I have taken it apart and cleaned it several times.

This time, he had a major blowout while sitting it in the seat, and there is poop all over the straps. He is immune suppressed (post heart transplant) and the thought of him sitting in this seat again without being properly disinfected really worries me!

I wiped as much of it as I could with a paper towel dipped in super hot water. But, can I use anything else on them? I'm thinking maybe at least vinegar?

You can't use vinegar on the straps. Is it your only seat? Could you use a different one until you can get new straps from Peg? Perhaps someone can ring in on whether or not the straps can be replaced on the Peg.

I can order new straps from Peg, but I cannot until Monday when the office is open. It is our only seat, and he needs to be in it on Monday.

The sun is a great disinfectant. I'd take the straps out of the seat and lay them in the sun as long as you can.

I vote sun also if it was just his own regular poop. He could reinfect himself with c. diff since the cyst could survive if he had c. diff diarrhea.

I'd probably use a constant stream of washcloths damp with warm water and a bit of tide (a tsp in a cup of water, roughly, very dilute. Or sensitive baby wipes). Wipe wipe wipe with damp cloths and then wipe with a dry cloth. And then the sunshine. Hope you have some of that.
