Question Convertible Seat for 2011 Subaru Outback

I have a 2011 Subaru Outback and am looking for a good convertible car seat for my 6 month old. I would like to keep him rear-facing until at least 2 years. Right now we have the Chicco Keyfit 30 which he is not a fan of so I'd like to switch him to something more upright. We will likely have another kid in the next year so will use the Keyfit for him/her. Husband and I are both under 6 ft. so height shouldn't be an issue for either of us or the baby (he's been tracking in the 30% for both height and weight since birth). I'd like to put the convertible seat in the middle for safety (not sure I can with Subaru LATCH, haven't checked on that), at least until #2 comes along. Was looking at Britax but there are so many choices. I'm ok with mid to upper price range, just not some $400 monstrosity with ipad holder and a million other unnecessary things. Looking for safety #1, then comfort for the kiddo and fit for my car. TIA

I have this car. You ought to have a lot of options. You're correct that you can't use LATCH in the middle, though.

We've had a Britax Boulevard (older model) and currently a Diono Ranier with angle adjuster and both fit fine. I keep them outboard, though.

Since you'll need to use a seatbelt install in the middle, if you can wait a month I'd go with the new Britax Click-tight seats that are supposed to come in October. You'll definitely get to 2 and probably way beyond rear-facing for a smaller kid.
