Carseat recycling in MA?

I'm not sure if this is OK here or if it should be in CB.

Anyone know of a carseat recycling program in central/eastern Mass? I'm in Hudson and regularly go to Worcester and Framingham/Natick areas. My WalMart seems to be a treasure trove of free carseats. I have two on my balcony right now that I've picked up and cut the harnesses out of, but I'd rather recycle them than put them in the dumpster.

Hello,

I know this post is from several years ago, but I'm the Metrowest area, and was wondering if you ever found a way to recycle your car seats?

I have 2 Boulevards that I need to dispose of as they've expired, but I'd rather recycle if I can. I've broken term down as much as possible, but the main thing stopping me from recycling the shell is that I don't have the tools to separate the metal brackets (if that's the correct term?) from the sides of the plastic shell.

It's a holiday weekend so I have to wait to speak with the town's recycling center, but came across your post in the meantime & was hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction.

Many thanks!

Welcome! You could check our recycling thread to see if one has made it to your area: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=156221 .

Thank you for sharing the thread. I did look through it, but unfortunately, my state (MA) wasn't mentioned. I know there is a SafeKids in the western part of the state, but I live in the eastern part, so that is quite a drive.

If the OP doesn't end up answering, I will just wait until Tuesday to call the recycling center. In the meantime, I may just mail the buckles & covers to Babyearth and deal with the shells soon.

Thanks again!

There is a Safe Kids in greater Boston, basically inside the 95 loop. However, they just throw the seats in a dumpster after cutting the harness.

I no longer live in Hudson, but still in central Mass. I am able to recycle anything that has a recycling triangle symbol on it in my curb side pickup.
