Car seat tax exempt

I was informed by a sales lady in a children’s store in Florida that car seats are exempt from sales taxes because they are mandatory. Is this true in New York?

Hahahaha.... as a NY resident I can assure you that very little is exempt from state sales tax. Car seats are most definitely taxed! And, "tax holiday"? What is this magical-sounding event? (JK I know what it is, but I don't think we've ever had one except maybe for certain things that most states do not tax.)

Florida is the only state that makes special sales tax exemptions for car seats and boosters. They also exempt kids’ bike helmets.
