Car seat safety

Okay so I recently found out that my sister has been putting her 10 month baby in a forward facing car seat. This seat is not recommended for his size to be forward. ( he is a bigger baby but still way too small for forward)

So the reasoning to me finding out was said baby got locked in car for short time (less than 10 minutes but still super scary in my opinion) I got called to help. My husband broke the window and then cleaned it up afterwards. While he’s cleaning up all the glass he noticed that the baby’s seat was only strapped in by a back harness not even the seatbelt to hold it down from moving. As he noticed that he was reading size recommendations for being forward and even asked my sister how much baby weighs now. So he put it in properly.

Well tonight I ran into my sister at the grocery store and I noticed that baby’s seat has been returned to forward facing. I understand not my baby not my decision. I’m just so terrified for this little baby.

What can I do to ensure his safety and get my sister to notice she might harm her baby?

Some states have reporting methods where you send the vehicle info to a law enforcement department and they will send the owner some car seat safety information to the registered address. Other than that, probably about the only thing you can do is talk to your sister about it and provide her pamphlets or links directly to safest practice information.
