Car Seat Recommendations - 2021 BMW X5

Looking for recommendations for a good 5 point restraint high back booster for our soon to be 3 year old in our 2021 X5. The one we have now (Diono Radian 3r) will not get tight and feels unsafe. We are using both the latch and a tether to no avail. Almost feels like the contour of the seat is the issue and I am not sure that I could get it any tighter. We are thinking of trying a different seat and looking for any recommendations on something that may have worked for someone else. Thanks!

Hi! A few things:

You're looking for a combination seat, correct? A harnessed forward facing seat with a booster mode later? A (dedicated) high back booster doesn't have a harness, and wouldn't be appropriate. Changing that terminology may help you when searching. :)

The seat you have is notoriously difficult to install in many vehicles and I can confirm from personal experience it is incompatible or close to it in your vehicle.

That said- your lower anchors are located in a way that will make many installs difficult forward facing. I would suggest a seatbelt install when you try a new seat.

The Britax Grow With You is likely to be an easy install with the ClickTight seatbelt tightening and locking mechanism. The Graco Nautilus Snuglock may also work well.

Any other back seat riders to worry about fitting?
