Car seat for taxi/carpool

I recently broke my wrist and will need to wear a cast or splint for the next 6 weeks or so, which means I won't be able to drive for at least that long. I have a 3-year-old (almost 4) who usually rides in a Britax Marathon 70. He is about 36 pounds but has outgrown the Marathon's RF height limit, so he rides FF. While I am recovering, we can take buses or trains for some trips, but for trips out of range of public transportation, we will have to take taxis or carpool. I am looking for a seat that is very lightweight and portable, and can be easily installed in a taxi or friend's car, since I'll have to either install it one-handed or explain to someone else how to install it. I am hoping to not spend too much, since this is a short-term situation. Thank you for any suggestions.

Or maybe a Scenera or a Cosco HBB, if it's truly for temporary use only and if he isn't too tall for it. Either seat would be outgrown at 40 lbs, but if you intend to only use it for a few weeks and then give it away or get rid of it entirely, it's about half the cost of a Maestro.

If you want something for more long-term use and if all the cars you'll be using it in have LATCH, the Evenflo SecureKid 400 or DLX models are the easiest ones I can think of to install with one hand with LATCH. It self-tightens when you press down on the seat, so the only pulling necessary would be to tighten the top tether anchor.

Just a hopeful thought for you...I've driven many times in a cast or splint. Once you get past needing meds for the pain, you might be surprised at how much mobility you'll actually have.
