The seatbelt in a friend's car won't retract (it's rear, passenger side). It's putting her in the position of putting one child in the front w/his booster seat (age 10) where there's an airbag OR putting him in the center of the back w/just the lap belt.
She's on a tight single mom budget and needs to get that belt replaced.
I know people, my dad and neighbors included, who repair cars all the time. They've replaced seatbelts many times. I've found companies on line that sell seatbelts (considered generic, I guess).
My thought is that they are all pretty much the same, provided it attaches to your vehicle correctly and is new. But I certainly could be wrong.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Are these replacement belts safe? Are there standards for them?
Thanks!
