Britax Frontier 85 SICT question

Hello all,

My 10.5 year old son is currently in the Britax Frontier 85 SICT booster mode. He's 59 inches/101 pounds. I've always kept my kids in big seats until they about grow out of them and they are fine with that. I drive a Jeep Cherokee. He's still not tall enough to be booster-less in my vehicle. Would you keep him in the Frontier? I'm thinking of switching to the Chicco go fit plus.

Thanks!

At 10.5 I would be very comfortable with a backless. You want to make sure whatever seat you get gives him hip room. A Graco Right Guide or Diono Solana are a couple backless boosters that both go to 120 pounds. The Go Fit only goes to 110 pounds.

What part of the 5-Step test does he not pass in the Cherokee?

Many kids of that size will pass in the vast majority of vehicles. I’m surprised his hips and shoulders have fit in the Frontier up until this point.

The GoFit also only goes to 57” standing height so he’s over that limit already.

The RightGuide goes to 60” so he’s only an inch away.

If he doesn’t pass the 5-step test now, the Diono Solana and the Peg Perego Shuttle are pretty much your only options.
