Booster in 4dr truck

DD is 8.5yo and 53lbs. In my car she is in her Monterey (backless) but I don't know what to do about DH's truck. He has a 4 door truck but the back seat has no headrests so I've left her boostered in her Nautilus (hbb). DD is starting to feel the peer pressure being in 3rd grade in a HBB but also understands why we are still using it. What would you do? Would you leave her in the HBB or do you think a no back would be ok?

If there aren't headrests, its not safe for anyone to ride without a head support.
ETA: she might prefer a booster like the Parkway SG that is a little more mature looking and doesn't require a vehicle headrest. Maybe try to find one that blends in with the seats in the truck. This is one thing I hate about DH's truck. Does your nautilus fit completely on the seat? It can't overhang in booster mode. It overhangs in our truck so I had to get boosters to use in it and only use the nautilus harnessed in there for DS.

Thank you for confirming my thoughts, I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. DH will have his truck for at least another year so I like your idea of a different seat that isn't so apparent. It does fit all the way on the seat, his seat cushions are contoured so the part of he bench behind the driver and passenger seat stick out more than the middle and it is just enough for the GN to fit completely on the seat.

I believe the latest stance is the Monterey needs a headrest.

What truck is it? Only asking because we have a Dodge Dakota and the Parkway didn't work well at all in there (seatbelt wouldn't retract because of the belt guide location) so it's possible you might need to try a few before you find one that works.

ETA - I'd start with converting the Nautilus to a booster since you already have it.

It's a dodge ram. Maybe I should try a turbo booster, do they look a little more grown up?

Depending on the cover it can. The turbo is the same height or shorter than the nautilus belt guide so make sure she has enough room in it. The data sheet says its 19.25" compared to 19-21.5 for the nauti. The Parkway is 21.5". We just got a Vivo too, but it has huge headwings she might not like.

Thanks for the info.! What a bummer they would make a veh. without headrests, ugh. Fortunately DD doesn't ride in it much and she understands the reasoning behind the hbb, but I also know that she feels a little embarrassed so I am going to see if we can pick a more mature looking booster (although I really thought we were done buy car seats/boosters!)
