Question baby trend 22lb not 30?

I received my infant carrier from a friend before my baby shower. She had bought it for herself when she was prego, but then received a whole travel system at her shower, so she gave me her first seat, brand new never used, but no box and no manual.

My LO is now 3 months old and I realized that all the other moms I know with baby trend seats have a weight limit of 30 lbs. My seat only goes to 22 lbs. Did my friend buy an old model or something? Is it worth my time and money to buy another infant carrier? LO is 12lbs 22"

There's a 22 pound version. It's not as common, but it's out there.

Do your little one's shoulders reach the bottom harness position? At 22" at three months that's pretty small, and the shoulders need to be above the bottom harness position for the child to fit. The seat also fits in your car with the handle down?

Yep, it's a fine seat, as long as it's used properly (it has super low bottom slots, I've seen even tiny babies well above them). It has the same dimensions as the seats with the 30 pound limits, so the 30lb limit one won't last any longer. They are both really small seats, but with a small kid, it's no big deal, it should last as long as you need it to (most moms are content to start using a convertible seat when their kiddo can sit pretty well unsupported, so you can put them in grocery carts and restaurant highchairs and carry them on your hip easily). If you really love the convenience of an infant seat for a much longer period of time, almost any seat will last longer, like a Graco Snugride 35 or 40 will last typically till 18-24 months. But just keep using your seat for now and see how it goes. It will be outgrown when your child's head is one inch from the top of the seat or 29" tall or 22 pounds (for average kids, that's about a year, very large kids about 6 months, but those are really rough averages).

Wow. Thank you so much for the information. He fits well I was worried that the smaller weight limit meant it was a smaller seat. I will just continue to use it till he out grows out. Thank you again. I'm also going to print that manual :)
