At what age do children typically reach 57 inches in height?

I've been researching several combination harness/booster seats and it seems like the high weight ones for harness have a height limit of about 57 inches (like the Diono Radian and the Britax Frontier). At what age do children reach 57 inches and do they typically reach 57 inches before they're 80/85 lbs? I realize every child is different but my son is pretty average in height and I'm not sure if I should care so much about a higher harness weight if he's going to outgrow the seat in height first which is what a lot of reviews seem to say.

Thanks,
Christine

Most kids don't reach 4'9" until middle school.

Most kids reach 85# about the same time they hit 57".

Most kids outgrow harnessed seats long before 85#/57".

And a typical child absolutely does not need to be harnessed to middle-school age!

Hi and welcome :)

What is the size and age of the child you are looking at the seat for?

Even though many seats have the same overall height limits, they have different top harness slot heights. Take the frontier and the radian. Both seats state an overall height of 57 inches for the harness, but, the frontier will last at least a year longer in harness mode, if not 2 years, because the harness height is 20 inches on the frontier but only about 17.5 on the radian.

My 10 year old long torsoed (21.5" torso) DD is not 57" yet. She weighs 68lbs and is in size 12 pants and 14 tops. She outgrew all available harnessed seats by age 6.5.

Our kids are not average. Our 11ydd is over 5' and our 10yds is almost 5' our 5y is 50" and to tall in the torso for the frontier in harness. He is going to probably outgrow his turbo well before 7y. Our older kids outgrew turbos with backs at age 7y.

Seats that have the same height, but different top slot heights will fit for different amounts of time. How big is your child? Torso height, weight and age?

Except the Frontier is outgrown by height when the shoulders go over the top slots, but the Radian is not.

My oldest is 11. He’s 54 inches and will probably outgrow his booster next year. My middle kid will be 10 next year and just hit 49 inches (out of harness mode) so he has a bit. My almost 5 yo just hit 38 inches and could still technically rear face. It all depends on your child not just bc 57 inches is highest the ultimate decision is sitting height.
