So I need to download the app Tapatalk?

Yes. Tapatalk is a generic message board reader that works for lots of boards. Just download it, make a tapatalk account (different from your car-seat.org one) and then search for Car-seat.org and log in as usual. It's different, but IME works very well once you get used to it.

It may vary for iOS, but on android that setting is found by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner. It can also be unchecked on individual posts. HTH!

Hmm, no gear icon I can see.

Also, how can I get the feed to show the last post? In the CSO app, I would see the latest post in the feed when I came into this subforum, but with Tapatalk I see the OP in the feed.

If you navigate through participated, unread or timeline it shows the latest, but browse shows the OP. It might be changeable in the settings, but I almost never use browse view so I haven't tried.

The gear icon only shows for me when the menu drawer is open. Again though it may work differently for iOS. HTH!

ETA Just remembered DH has an iPhone. Tap the little guy on the bottom right to get to the gear icon.

When the app goes away, I'll cry and cry, and then I'll probably just use my browser. I don't think I can get used to Tapatalk.

I'm forcing myself to use the new app. It's not the same, but it's OK. I wish there were other color schemes, but I will survive.

It just takes a bit of getting used to.

I think the old app will remain for some time for those who already have it on their devices. It will cease to be available on the apple and android stores sometime after December 20th, if and when the developer gets around to removing it. Push notifications and other features dependent on the developer may also cease to work at that time.

Basic reading and posting functions should continue to work for those who already have it on their devices, but these could break completely as new iOS and Android versions are released.
