Another winter coat question

We always use Columbia fleece jackets, very similar to the LL Bean & Land End fleece jackets. When also have thicker Columbia winter jackets and when it is REALLY cold, we put the thick coats on over the fleece & then take the thick ones off when we get in the van and leave the fleece ones on in their seats. And, actually, last year, when Ezra was still small enough for me to carry everywhere, I rarely put any jacket on him at all. I would wrap him up in a couple of fleece blankets, carry him to the van, unwrap him, buckle him, and then pile the blankets on top of him. That worked like a charm. It looked very weird to people when I'd carry him into stores or restaurants wrapped in blankets like that, but it worked and was easier than doing the jacket on/jacket off thing like my older kids do. I really don't think that I'll ever worry about having jackets for my under 3T sized kids in the winter anymore because I know I'll end up just using blankets anyway!

Also, make some rice bags and warm them up in the microwave and you can put them in kiddos lap to help keep them warmer while the car is warming up.

Just wanted to post some of the websites that have nice jackets for kids.

http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ This site always has coupons and sales. And check out this thread for current sales and promotions. http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/mes...readid=243140&highlight_key=y&keyword1=sierra

http://www.upsideover.com/ Very nice store. Chated with Brian and he answered all my question and even got jackets and hats out to measure for me.

http://www.backcountry.com/ Has toddler/infant section too.

FWIW - I bought 2 jackets for my son (19 mo, 26#). Both are windproof.

66 North Iceland Baldur Wind Pro Jacket - Kids' (Size 2) - Nice dense fleece without being thick. It's a tad big. I need to cuff the sleeves but come winter time it should fit well.

Cloudveil Wister Jacket - Polartec Windpro Fleece For Kids (Size 1) - Feels a little thinner (I still think it's going to be great in the cold weather) than the 66 North but has a smooth outer layer that is water-resistant (66 North feels fleecy). That price seems to change weekly. With discounts I got the jacket for $48.
