Can I use my NextFit zip secured by the vehicle seatbelt after the seat was secured by the latch system during a crash?
I had a car wreck with airbag deployment. My son's 3 month old carseat, nextfit, was in the car and secured by the latch system. None of the children were with me. So he was not in the seat. I am hopeful we can still use the seat but secure it with the seatbelts instead of the latches.

Hi. It's astute of you to consider that the lower anchors would be unusable after a crash. However, it is Chicco's policy that the entire carseat be replaced regardless of how it was installed during the crash. Crash forces can affect more than just the LATCH portion of the carseat. Your lower anchors may be able to be replaced, depending on your vehicle manufacturer, so check on that when you have your vehicle checked out.

Also, if your other children are in carseats or boosters, check their owner's manuals or manufacturers' website FAQs for replacement policies.

Who was at fault? Replacement should be (but is not always) covered under their insurance policy.
