I have triplet grandkids that are starting preschool in the fall when they turn 3. I would love to purchase 3 car seats to fit across in my 2011 Mercury Mariner. Does anyone know what seats would fit?

Can you tell us how tall and heavy they are? Do you have a budget in mind? Are the kids riding rear-facing or forward-facing? Compact SUVs can be difficult for 3 across, but it looks like the back seat is fairly flat and the headrests look easy to work with, so you have that in your favor.

DO NOT PUT THREE CARSEATS ACROSS THE BACKSEAT OF THE MARINER!!!! If the seat is a 60/40 split seat, there is an issue with the seat that may cause problems. Engineers are aware of the problem. As happened to my daughter, when in an front impact collision, the bigger side of the rear seat pulled forward with two carseats in it. That caused the seat to hit the third carseat on the smaller side, flipping that carseat toward the door. While properly strapped in, my daughter was forced into the door, and still has scars as a result. AGAIN, DO NOT PUT THREE ACROSS THE BACK SEAT!
