Question 3 across in small/mid size SUV

We have twin 7 year-olds who are under 50 pounds and a 20 month-old under 30 pounds. Our frequent care givers have smaller SUVs (Subaru and Nissan) and I have a 2014 Ford Escape. We're looking for boosters for the twins and a convertible (rear for now, forward in the future) for the youngest that would fit 3 across in the back row.

I noticed some Cosco products are claiming "3 across most back seats". That's usually to be taken with a grain of salt, of course. I like the Cosco Scenera Next as a possibility, especially since it is also FAA approved.

What models for the bigger kids and the little one should we consider for this configuration?

The Cosco Scenera NEXT is probably a great choice for any of those vehicles for rear facing, but it doesn't last very long for forward facing. It's also not a seat I like to use for very long drives, because when my kids decide they are DONE in their car seats, if there are no harness pads, they tend to rub giant welts on their necks.

Do you have a total budget in mind?

And for the twins, are you thinking about high back or backless boosters?
