Hi all,
My wife and I are expecting our first daughter in July and I’ve gone ahead and installed the car seat base in my Audi A4.

The latch system works great but the seats are on an angle which is causing the base to not be at the right angle for a newborn.
I’ve turned the knob to raise and lower the car seat as much as it possibly could and the “level” that’s on it shows it at the angle for approx 22lbs.

I don’t expect my daughter to be 22lbs at birth so my question is:
Is this okay due to the angle of the seats and is that what’s likely throwing the measurement off? Is this still safe?

Great question!

This is definitely due to the angle of the seats, and isn't that uncommon, but it's not safe. Make sure you're on a level surface, of course, and then use a tightly rolled towel under the base to assist in getting the proper level. If your instructions don't detail how to do this I would contact the manufacturer for help if needed. You can also contact a local CPST for assistance.
