I have a 2010 Forester and it! I find installing seats in it to be very easy - and there is still plenty of room for my front passenger - even with a rear facing seat in the back
I'd try driving the Pilot first before ruling it out altogether. It's the primary competition to the Highlander and seems to get more love. The Highlander is great cuz it's essentially a Camry and has most of what make the Camry such a loved car. Cept in wagon form. I really don't get the Venza, other than maybe it's prettier than the Highlander?
