My wife went to get the car seats installed for new twins. The fire lady looked up my vehicle and said that my vehicle you cannot use the quick connects built into the seats. I am unclear as to what book she found this in and when we had our son there was not an issue. in fact the sheriffs department said to use the clips instead of the belt whenever possible. I am confused and frustrated. Please help!

Hi Tim, What car seats and vehicle do you have?
ETA: Sorry. I see it is a 2010 Mercury Mariner. What positions were the seats being installed? What is your son in? Let us know and we will be happy to walk you through. Quite often, we find that it is difficult or impossible to get three car seats across the backseat using lower anchors. There is more ability to place the seats and achieve more room using seatbelts. Seatbelts used properly to install a car seat is just as safe as using LATCH. Sometimes, using a seatbelt is easier to use than the lower anchors. Your vehicle has LATCH (two lower anchors and a top tether anchor) hardware in the two outboard positions. and just a top tether in the center. The lower anchor bars in your vehicle are designed to accept one car seat LA attachment or "clip". I can find this information in The 2021 LATCH Manual. It is a reference guide that is published by a not for profit that works with car seat and automotive companies to help car seat technicians with issues and questions that often arise when teaching parents and caregivers. Again let us know the seats you have and we will be happy to help!
