My main question:
Someone on this board has a rf tether in their xterra right? How did you do that?

Also, any advice on my situation:
I have 2 kids: 14 months (19 lbs) and 33 months (28 lbs)

both are rf. We just recently moved my dd from the infant to an Alpha Omega (handed down from big brother) and my ds is in a Scenera. We couldn't get a tight install in the middle for the Alpha Omega so we moved her to the passenger side. Isn't it better to have a tight install and outboard then a not so tight middle? The middle seat is a lap belt and was easy with the infant seat because we had leverage.

Anyway, someone tell me how to tether please. There are no tether anchors in my xterra for rf carseats.

Well, you actually you don't need to worry about rf tethers because Cosco seats do not allow the use of the tether when rf. Only Britax and the Radian currently tether rf. You are right that a solid install on the side is better than a so-so install in the middle.

If you really want baby in the middle, you could put the older one rf in the AO and the baby in the Scenera. Sometimes different seats work better in different places. However, if both seats fit well outboard, then I would probably just keep them there. Rearfacing seat are inherently very safe.

Jacky is right, those seats don't tether. The Britaxes and Sunshine Kids seats come with a tether connector strap which allows you to make an anchor off of the front seat leg or something like that. The Dorel seats are not to be tethered, so they don't come with the connector strap.
