Radian mesh?

I'm fairly certain I am going to be buying a new XTSL when it comes out, but I'm curious about the mesh on the Radians. Is it similar to the Frontier mesh? We have a pink sky Frontier and the mesh is horrible! DD doesn't like how it feels on her legs and it is just piling and looks almost black now. If it is at all like that then I will stick to the plush.

And another question about these new Radians, this car seat will first be primarily for my DD2 (almost 13 months, 25-26lbs) who is currently RF in a 33lb RF limit Marathon. How far do the XT's headwings go down? Will they even benefit her at this age (I'm not sure of torso length, but she is still on the first slots in the Marathon). I'm planning on her staying RF until 3, unless baby #3 needs to move into before then. So I guess I'm just debating between the XTSL and the 80SL (the 65SL will most likely not get her to 3, my 2y 8m DD is already 40lbs). Are the headwings the only difference? Are they worth the extra money?

The Radian mesh feels a little softer and less scratchy than the Frontier. The Frontier isn't bad IMO, just not as soft. I just got the XT a few weeks ago so I don't know about the piling issue. I've only had it set up for FF so far. If no one else chimes in, I'll check the manual tonight for you on the headwing ?.

Britax recently told me they are coming out with new Frontier seat covers to replace the ones with the mesh problem. The back will be mesh, but the bottom (where child's butt goes) will be made from the more plush material that's on the sides. They are supposed to be out in Oct.

Thanks! That makes me feel better about possibly getting a mesh Radian. My Frontier started out so nice, but it really just looks awful now. I tried calling Britax today to ask about new covers, but since I live on the west coast I apparently called too late, so I'll try again tomorrow.

I just bought a Radian XT SL from hipmonkey today. The difference in price was only about $20, so I got the XT with the headwing protection.
