So, I was at a seat check today, and someone came in with a CS. Child was 24 pounds. Caregivers wanted to FF. I wasn't doing this seat, but I was close by. The guy checked out the seat, said the top slots are for FF 30-40 pounds, and the middle slots can be used FF for 20-30 pounds. He read it off a sticker on the side of the seat. Child ended up RF because he would have needed the top slots for FF by height, but by weight it would be the middle slots (which were halfway down his back).

I had never heard of this with the CS!! Is this true? :confused:

He was confused. The middle slots are allowed to be used FF is child is under 30 lbs., but are not required for use if a FF child is under 30 lbs. He should have used the top slots.

But :thumbsup: to him leaving RF! Perhaps his parents will keep him that way until he outgrows it RF.

Than why would it say the top slots were for FF 30-40 pounds, instead of saying 20-40? Or did he just totally read it wrong?

The top slots must be used for a child 30-40 pounds. As in, if the child is over 30 pounds, then you must use top slots.

unfortunately this guy was an instructor, and when he mentioned it to another instructor she just said 'wow, they're really specific' :rolleyes: Can I be an instructor so I can feel better about questioning others :rolleyes: :whistle:
