Question GN straps after accident

I just purchased my replacement nauti today after being reimbursed from insurance - I was in a very minor accident - a car in front of me pulled off an exit ramp and then stopped and I ran into her - no damage to her car, cracked up my bumper - since graco says replace after and accident I am replacing the GN and not the MA - neither seat was occupied - I am keeping the cover to the nauti as a spare but I was wondering if I should keep any of the harness also since it was not occupied?

It is a parental decision. You can call Graco and get their feedback on it.

I for one can't think of a reason why it would be a problem :twocents:

I woudl probably feel comfortable doing do. The only parts of the seat that should have experienced any possible stress are the shell/beltpath and the latch belt, if ti was installed with latch. The harness for the child would have experienced no possible stress.

You should be able to keep/reuse the cover; the harness, buckles, and chest clip since it was unoccupied; and the locking clip if that was not used.

I completely agree. There was no stress on the harness if it was unoccupied so I would keep it just in case. There are always the puke/potty accidents times when you need some time to clean the harness before using it again. Don't forget the crotch buckle!

This is what I am thinking - I might not ever use it but it would be nice just in case one of theose accidents happened. It was installed with latch - I think I will just trash the shell and hold onto the parts - I just cannot come up with a reason how the harness would have had any stress on it at all

I'd feel safe keeping the harness and buckle. You're lucky - when I got a snugride replaced by insurance, they confiscated the whole thing! I didn't even get to keep the cover.

They didn't even tell me what to do with the old one - I asked them if they wanted it - they said no - i know i need to destroy it but i asked them what they thought anyways and they said just put it outside for the trash - I informed them that I would but that I was also going to hack it up so no one else could use it:p They said "Oh that's a good idea"
