The buckles on dd's Como are really digging into her stomach. I know it's not technically allowed, but would it make a difference with the digging in if I routed the straps the other way? Would *you* do this?

maybe. those Recaro convertibles have the longest crotch straps ever, plus that big old buckle. it might be tricky getting the buckle tongues back on though. I know some manufacturers say not to remove them at all and they come pre-installed on new harnesses.

No, the harness isn't over-tightened, if it's any looser, I can pinch slack. I don't suppose Recaro ever made shorter crotch buckles did they?
